I would like to start by thanking ‘Greek Diplomatic Life’ magazine for the important work it does, for keeping the Greek diplomatic community updated on all important events related to the diplomatic activities in the Hellenic Republic, as well as for facilitating formal and informal contacts among diplomats, initiating and co-organising gatherings for diplomats and their families, popularising Greece in countries we proudly represent. I would like to wish this important institution and its team further success in their future endeavours.
The period of 2015-2019 was a special experience for me, as I had the privilege of representing Georgia in the Hellenic Republic. I can state with the confidence that currently the Georgian-Greek relations are on a very friendly, intensive and productive track, as all official formats are activated and all channels of communication open. Cooperation in various fields is well-structured at all levels and the two States are steadily and consistently implementing their bilateral agenda.
Greece and Georgia have also established themselves as trustful partners in multilateral formats. Coordinating their efforts based on mutual respect remains a key element in the Greece-Georgia partnership. To this end, I am grateful to the Hellenic Republic for its unwavering support to the territorial integrity of my country, as well as toward Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations.
Historically close religious and cultural ties between our two countries are well-known. Yet, Greece still surprised me with its extraordinarily rich spiritual and cultural heritage, hospitality and wisdom, diversity and beauty.
I will be looking forward to any opportunity to return and reunite with my Greek friends and colleagues with whom I have enjoyed exceptional personal and professional relationships.
