On the occasion of the 100’s Anniversary of Georgia’s First Democratic Republic, the Embassy of Georgia in Athens is pleased to invite you to the screening of the Georgian movie “In Bloom” directed by Nana Ekvtimishvili and Sion Gross.
Introductory speech by Mr. Ninos Michalides, Film critic, member of European Film Academy, Director of Panorama of European Cinema Film Festival.
The screening will take place on Wednesday, May 23th at 20.30 at the Open Air Aegli Cinema in the Athenian National Gardens (CINE AEGLI – Zappio Garden, entrance from Vas. Olgas Avenue).
The film will be presented in Georgian with English subtitles.

|In Bloom (Georgian: გრძელი ნათელი დღეები; Grdzeli nateli dgheebi) is a 2013 Georgian drama film directed by Nana Ekvtimishvili and Simon Gross.
It is a bildungsroman focused on the friendship between two teenage girls in 1992, after Georgia regained independence from the Soviet Union. The film premiered at the 63rd Berlin International Film Festival, winning the C.I.C.A.E. Prize. It was selected as the Georgian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 86th Academy Awards. Variety defined it as “an intimate drama about two very young woman destined by differences of class and character for very different fates, and also as a portrait of a fascinating period in the country’s social history”.
